The idea behind this piece was initially based on a commission, which then never came to be. However, I continued to work on it and it has become my piece of distraction, when other paintings are moving slow or not moving at all. It shows the view from a private home, overlooking the landscape that leads to the near northern Pacific. I have taken a lot of freedom with the piece, as it is not painted on sight but relies only on very rough sketches and memory. It is painted in oils on canvas and measures 36″ x 18″
Then there are the following pieces that I could have let go, their completion having had arrived, but then there seemed to be more that wanted to be worked at and on, and so they changed, turning into something new.
